When my 12 year old son heard we were going to be doing Railroad grade he instantly became excited. It had been two years since his first trip up there and it is one he will never forget. The trail is straight forward and marked well. We hiked up to the climbers camp where we ate lunch before turning back. The ridge or railroad grade is marmot central and we saw plenty. Some even make their home among the rocks on the trail. This is a highlight for everyone. They were whistling quite a bit to boot! Fun guys those marmots. At the climbers camp you get great views of the glacier. It was overcast, but still spectacular. A family favorite for sure!
