This is a nice flat river walk along the Sauk River. It is an old RR bed and you can still see part of the tracks, now lying along the edge of the river where the trail winds along the eroded bank. The lake is actually a series of ponds with a nice wood bridge. The water was pretty murky but the reflections of the surrounding trees was somewhat picturesque. The trees surrounding the water have pretty much lost all their leaves. Fall is here! There were lots of tiny frogs that must have just graduated from tadpole school and they were hopping along the trail everywhere, we really had to watch where we stepped so as to not step on them! The trail continues a short ways past the pond and deadends at a slide. Before the slide the trail continued on and headed back up to the road. Since it doesn't really have much big bang destination, this is a lightly traveled trail.
