Trip Report

Anderson and Watson Lakes — Saturday, Sep. 3, 2016

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Following the advice of other trip reports, I went with a can of 25% DEET for all the bugs. However, the constant overcast and rain of the late morning (started hiking around 11:00am) kept the bugs away. If my wife hadn't picked up a nasty bite from a fly - one of the very few bugs we came across - I would've reported "no bugs" for this trip. Also, the cool, rainy weather meant the hundreds of blueberries along the trail were chilled and rinsed! If you take the time to drive to this trailhead and hike to the first Watson Lake, you have to go to the second - it is superior in the close, mid and long range views.
View of Lake Shannon, from the road while driving back from the trailhead.
