Mount Rainier Area > NE - Sunrise/White River
Starting the trail up to Fremont
This hike was a great one just off of the Sunrise parking lot. The trail is in fantastic condition, the WTA volunteers were working on the trail the day I went. The first section of the trail is pretty busy but as soon as you hit Frozen lake the crowds diminish as there are other trails around that area. From frozen lake to the lookout is a steady incline over 1.3 miles. The terrain is pretty interested over this area. Mt Rainier is by your left. The lookout views were amazing and on this particular day i got to see the lenticular cloud hanging around Mt Rainier. The chipmunks by the lookout are not afraid of people and will steal your food any chance given. We finished our lunch and when we reach Frozen lake we decided to take a side trail to check out Shadow lake. The trail was beautiful, with some flowers still hanging around and fall foliage starting to show. We walked around Shadow lake and headed back to the Sunrise parking lot. It was a great day for sure. Happy hiking!!!
