Decided to meet up some friends after work to welcome the first day of fall and to enjoy a sunset hike. Catherine sounded like a great option.
We started around 5 pm and made it all the way up in 1 hour. Short but steep trail as you gain a lot of elevation in about 1.7 miles.
There were some downed tree that were just cut so the trail was in good condition for all travelers. Lots of loose rocks at the first 0.6 miles or so.
As you near the top there is a cable to help you out as you pull yourself up while getting close to the summit. The views are incredible even on the evening we went as there were lots of clouds but they added to the place for sure.
On the way down we made it back to the TH as it was dark, so don't forget your headlamps at it was necessary on the way down. Unfortunately I ended up slipping on the sharp loose rocks and feel down hard just right before reaching the car. Ended up with a bruised upper leg and a small fracture on my wrist. Be very careful.
Happy hiking!
