Decided to go up the Gorge and see what conditions were like. Hwy 14 and I-84 are now clear and easily passable, although lots of branches and small trees down from the recent ice and snow storms. Started up the Cape Horn Trail later in the afternoon. I did the whole loop about a month ago, the trail was clear except patches of packed snow and ice near the top. Now the entire trail is covered with snow, not too deep but icy patches all along. Lots of down branches, no large trees that prevent access along the trail. I got up to the first viewpoint (about 1.5 miles) and turned around as the day was getting late. Be sure you have poles and good traction boots - the trail at the viewpoint was very icy and slick, so I kept back from the edge!
