I have been waiting for decent weather to take the trip up to Heybrook Lookout, and finally had my chance. I was the 2nd car in the lot at 645am, just before sunrise. The trail is in good shape, but compact snow and ice towards the last 1/3 of the trail requires microspikes. The view from the lookout is so beautiful! I was disappointed that the very top of the lookout was closed and padlocked, I am wondering if maybe it opens in the summer. It was really quite windy and cold at the lookout, so dress warm! This was the perfect choice for a short hike that still provides a decent workout. I will do this one again in the summer, perhaps at sunset.
