High Rock — Wednesday, Jul. 6, 2016

South Cascades > White Pass/Cowlitz River Valley
Decided to take the long bumpy winding road to High Rock Trail head. I drove my Kia Soul and had no difficulty, went very slow. When I got to trail head no one was there. The sign on the trail had a million shot gun holes in it and there was garbage everywhere. After cleaning up some garbage I ventured on the trail for sunset hike. Very easy climb up to the end, but felt weird in places like there was a presence around me, then I came across a shrine in remembrance of 2 people who died on the trail. Very spooky feeling. When I got to the top I thought that it was a bit dangerous of an area for sure. The rocks were step and slippery in places and one slip on the wrong side would be certain death. I sat and watched the sunset and it was so calm and beautiful. The view of Rainier was amazing! I can't believe it took me 10 years living here in WA to venture up to this hidden gem!
Beautiful sunset
