Amazing views. We did the hike with my 3 yr old and 6 yr old. the 6 yr old did the entire hike. 3 yr old made it about 1.75 miles before needing the carrier. Impressive regardless. The trail was muddy and snowy all over, but very manageable. we hiked all the way up to the clearing before we started sinking in snow too much. we had regular hiking shoes and pants. nothing extravagant. the hike was really fun.
