Pinnacle Saddle — Tuesday, Jul. 11, 2017

Mount Rainier Area > SE - Cayuse Pass/Stevens Canyon
View of Mt. Rainier from near Pinnacle Saddle.

While the trail had multiple sections that were covered with snow, the trail was still fairly easy to follow to the saddle.  There were a few trees to step over or go around, but this was easy to do.  We brought crampons/microspikes but didn't end up using them.  We did hike with our ice axes for safety.  There is one steep crossing where a slip would be problematic.  We did see other people who made it up to the saddle who did not have ice axes, but I think having one certainly adds to the safety for the hike.  The weather was perfect today and the views of Rainier were awesome!
