Trip Report

Hannegan Pass and Peak — Sunday, Jul. 30, 2017

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

The trail is absolutely spectacular and the views from the top are unbeatable.

We started hiking at 11am and we were on the peak at around 2.30-3pm. We had the peak for ourselves as no one else showed up. We sat and enjoyed the breathtaking views for 2h. we left the peak at 5pm and we were down in the parking lot at 7pm. We did ran a portion of it.

We were lucky enough to see 6 mountain goats out in the distance.

The bugs are absolutely terrible until you get to Copper Ridge. It gets significantly better afterwards and we there were close to no bugs/flies on the peak.

The are a few creeks with nice fresh water. We had our hydration backpacks with us and we used all the water by the time we were down at the parking lot. Most of the trail is exposed and on a sunny, warm day, you'll need to hydrate a lot.

The trail is in excellent conditions and the volunteers were cleaning up even more over the weekend. Huge THANK YOU to those guys for working in in that heat and surrounded by the annoying flies all day.

The trail is snow free.

The access road is doable for any type of car. There are a few potholes but they can be passed if one will drive slowly.
