We did a New Year’s day hike up to the lake. You’ll park at the ski resort parking lot and walk over the sky bridge to a service road entrance amongst some little cabins. We got there around 9:30am and parking was filling up quickly. It started out 19 degrees and super cloudy at the bottom of the ski resort so I was concerned it’d be cloudy the whole time. We hiked up amongst some trees that looked like they were decorated in Whoville. When we’d hike up about 300 ft we broke out of the clouds and had an unbelievably blue sky and amazing views! The trail description says that if you get to a second tower you’ve gone too far, that’s not true. Keep walking up the well established trail and you’ll hike around another corner and the lake will open up in front of you. It took us two hours to hike up and 45 minutes to hike down. If you have ascent bars on your snowshoes, you’ll have an easy time hiking up. However if you don’t it might be a little more strenuous but still completely doable. This hike isn’t hard just uphill the whole way.
