Panther Creek Falls — Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018

Southwest Washington > Columbia River Gorge - WA
Hanging at the falls' base

Short and sweet, Panther Creek Falls is quite a treat!

The drive up the forest road was uneventful today. We camped along the creek last night and headed to the falls in the morning. It's a quick and easy walk to the upper viewing platform ("Falls" is painted on the road to mark where the trail starts, and there's a small sign on a tree).

The alternate trail to the base of the falls starts a little further south from the parking area on NF-65 over a hillock (but before the junction with NF-6511). It's steep at some points and there is a little section with a rope attached to help with the scramble but you don't necessarily have to use it. Some slick roots and a few muddy spots, but it's pretty quick and you soon find yourself in a magical fairyland of tumbling rivulets and roaring water!
