I always wonder how the weather may vary along the coast. Downpour in Everett, Marysville, and Mount Vernon almost made me turn around, but surprisingly the sun was shining in Bellingham area.
Drive to the trailhead is pretty straightforward. Coming from Seatle, take Exit 266, turn left and follow the road until it comes to a sharp left turn. You will shortly see "Point Whitehorn Marine Reserve" sign together with "No turnaround" and "No beach access" signs. Large gravel parking lot will be on your left.
The trail is quite wet, but not too muddy. There are still numerous puddles to cross though. Most of them are shallow and/or easy to navigate around, but some may pose a problem. Make sure to bring appropriate footwear. The section of the trail that winds down to the beach is slippery. The trail is designated as ADA accessible, which is not true for the time being due to a downed tree.
Mileage indicated in trail description seems to be a bit excessive, as I reached the beach in 20 mins - looks like a mile and something one way. Nice trail combining forest and ocean shore. Being that short and located close to Bellingham, it provides opportunity to explore more local attractions after hiking.
