Trip Report

Saint Edward State Park — Monday, Apr. 23, 2018

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Down at the Lake you could watch some planes taking off from Kenmore

Hiked at St Edward State Park today, starting with the Orchard Loop. Followed that up with the Water Tower, Plateau, and South Ridge Trails down to the Lake and then the Grotto Trail back up. The Grotto Trail, which had been closed due to washout in the winter, was open and in good condition. The South Ridge and Grotto trails are fairly steep, so bring your poles or hike up them if you're worried about your knees (you can take the Seminary Trail down to the Lake).

It was a beautiful morning for hiking and there were some flowers blooming (bleeding hearts, dandelions, and some salmon/thimbleberries(?), and some fiddlehead ferns opening up). Not too many people out hiking this morning, I saw fewer than 10 on the trails.

Maybe thimble or salmon berries?
