Decided to trek Longs today in spite of the previous trip reports. Trail is clear until the last mile, when it quickly turns from an easy walk to a bit of an adventure. Gaiters and a GPS are highly recommended for first timers trying to plot their way across the snowy scramble to the top. Traction devices could be nice but definitely not necessary as the snow is soft. Kick stepped my own path up to the pass and was the first up this morning. Views were absolutely incredible!
