A beautiful day but that also means tons of mosquitos, crowds, and sun. There is no shade the entire hike so plan accordingly. I can't believe how many people were going up with no water and looking really sunburned. The hike is not too difficult, but if you don't plan for the sun exposure, it can become a dangerous situation. There's lots of mosquitos all the way up, not as many when you get higher but still there. We didn't use bug spray and got about 20-30 bites each. Sunblock, bug spray, and water are highly recommended for this hike. I would recommend light weight long sleeves/pants for protection from both bugs and sun. Amazing views as always. We went early and didn't have to deal with the hoards of people that were starting to go up. I would do this on a weekday to have a more enjoyable experience.
