Tolmie Peak Lookout - Eunice Lake — Tuesday, Jul. 31, 2018

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich
View of Eunice Lake from the ridge to the true summit

Yes the road is dusty so expect a dirty car afterward. But the road is in great shape and smooth sailing aside from minor washboard. I pulled aside at the fee station to pay my entrance fee but there are no envelopes and the fee collection pole was covered, so free admission today! Still be sure to stop and check to see if you have to pay in you do not have an annual pass.

There are crowds even on a weekday. So I do not recommend this hike on a weekend.

Wear bug repellent! The horse flies and mosquitoes are quite annoying, but will at least not land on you if repellent is on.

We made it to the true summit. From the lookout the trail to the main summit further on the ridge is pretty easy to follow, only 0.2 miles further past the lookout.

Swam in Eunice Lake on the way down! The clear blue water was perfect and quite warm. Swimming in this lake is a must!

stevebeuerle on Tolmie Peak Lookout - Eunice Lake

We read in other recent trip reports that there are nails on the road causing many flat tires. Did you see any other cars sidelined due to flats?

Thanks!
