This hike is incredible! Fall colors are starting to blare! The hike is a steady incline until the last probably half mile which is very steep up to the Butte. The lookout right before the Butte is beautiful - looking down on multiple lakes with mountains everywhere.
Trail begins through some woods but not for long - most of the hike is through meadows with beautiful fall vegetation. About halfway you come to a snowfield that is directly below the Butte.
Right before the Butte at the lookout I discussed prior is a junction in the trail. Left goes down to the lakes, right up to the Butte. Many people overnighting were going towards the lakes.
