Carne Mountain — Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East

Best larches I have seen! The trail was easy to follow with 9 fallen trees to climb over. The 3 or so miles up to the basin were steep but it was so rewarding crossing the ridge into the basin. The basin had larches galore, a little stream with fresh water supply and plenty of flat space to camp.

It was pretty cold in the basin overnight - definitely have proper warm gear. The morning frost made the larches so pretty when waking up. The mile or so to the top of Carne Mountain was pretty easy especially since I was able to leave most of my stuff in the basin.

The view atop Carne Mountain was beautiful. Could see many peaks and mountains - Rainier, Glacier Peak and the Enchantments.
