Tieton River Nature Trail — Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018

Central Washington > Yakima

Beautiful, easy fall hike with spectacular foliage.  The trail can be confusing though.  First, make sure that you go to the right and through the opening in the Elk gate (it lifts up) Disregard the "trail closed" sign; that goes to one of the many rock climbing routes.  There is also a confusing, hand painted arrow sign that leads to the rocks as well.  Ignore this and keep walking parallel to the river.  When you reach the charming suspension bridge keep going past it (you can go on the bridge for fun, but it just leads to a separate parking lot; Doesn't loop around.) We reached the meadow and ate lunch by the river, then turned around (it appears the trail goes on quite a ways) Total of seven miles out and back.  This feels more like a nature walk than a hike, but is worth the time, especially in fall.
