Hiked Excelsior with my buddy Sherry today. The trail is in great shape with recent work in evidence. This trail is in forest with an unrelenting grade up and up with switchbacks to ease the pain a bit. You finally break out in meadows just below the ridge and Excelsior Pass. Still, it's worth every bit of sweat and toil as the views and meadows are amazing. Nothing worthwhile comes easy...or so I tell myself. We had wonderful weather as the inversion created summer temps on the upper portions. We ran into some nice folks on the high point who gave some me some pointers on the other trails in the area and Sherry discussed mushrooms which were apparently in abundance, but me being oblivious just walked on by. A wonderful day in the Mt. Baker area followed by a burger and beer at Chair 9.
