Quiet hike on a beautiful fall day. The berries are well past prime but the sun brilliantly illuminated their fall colors.
Hiked the loop counterclockwise towards Deer Lake first as the path to the lake is far rockier and steeper allowing a significantly gentler descent through the Sol Duc River valley.
There were not many hikers on the trail and I saw no occupied campsites along the entire hike (I did not take the spur to Lunch Lake).
I left the parking lot at 9 am and made it to Bogachiel Peak by 11:45 am for lunch. As I sat there I was blown away by the silence. It's the most absolute quiet I have experienced in a long time. Priceless.
Completed the entire hike in just under six and a half hours. I've done this hike twice, once as an overnight and once a day hike, it's wonderful either way.
