Started out at 8:50 this morning. The trail is in good condition, but gets to be icy on the ridges overlooking Van Trump Creek. There is packed snow and ice on the trail. There is snow and ice all around Bloucher Falls. From Comet Falls to Van Trump Park is pretty much packed snow. Traction for the boots and poles are highly recommended. they are a great help especially on the way back down. The Pikas were very active in the rocks along the trail. The views at Van Trump were awesome. St. Helens, Adams, and of course, Rainier could be seen. With the proper equipment this trail is very doable (of course conditions around the mountain can change quickly).
