A small window of opportunity and a much needed break for mommy prompted the baby and I to take a victory lap on this trail. The recent purchase of the Bergsma/Windward property by the city of Issaquah is a great addition to the Cougar Mountain Park.
Parking is at the Big Tree Ridge Trailhead. Walk east on Newport Way a short distance and cross over four large boulders to enter the trail. There's a few step over trees that aren't difficult. The old road turned trail ascends a ridge with a whispering stream running along the bottom of the adjoining ravine. Lots of moss and leaves cover the trail. We turned around at Harvey Manning Park where you can connect with the Precipice Top Trail as it was already 4:15. The orangish sky made for interesting lighting upon our return.
Thanks again to all the people who supported the effort to make this happen!
