Cold clear day with awesome views! Put on microspikes just beyond the first waterfall which, itself, was showing signs of icing up. Deeper snow encountered about 1/4 mile beyond the 3-mi viewpoint. Snowshoes would've been nice for this portion but we post-holed through until the the snow depth eased again upon reentering thicker forest (about 1/4 mile of post-holing). Turned around at the 4.5-mi viewpoint. Only three other parties encountered. Route finding fairly straightforward but will get more challenging beyond 3 mi after a few more snowfalls.
