For my first trip of 2019, I decided to visit that familiar old friend, Wallace Falls.
I arrived earlier in the morning, though not as early as I have in some years past. Still, I was there before most of the revelers were up and about, and only encountered a handful of parties on the way up.
The trail was in great condition and the falls were raging. The air was cool, but not frigid, and the skies were gray, but not gloomy.
On the way down, the first wave of the hordes of hikers swarmed up the trail. The parking lot was just a few cars shy of full when I got back, and more were arriving.
Overall, a good kick off to the 2019 hiking season (which does, of course, start on January 1st).
