Trip Report

Baker Lake - Maple Grove — Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
This is the view at the campsites, about four miles from the trailhead.

We found this hike after a few failed attempts at trails at a higher elevation that were closed due to snow. This trail was gorgeous and the drive to the trailhead easy.

From the trailhead, we hiked about four miles to the campsites along the lake for snacks and hot chocolate. We saw a few deer in the area as we walked to the lake. From the lake shore, there are beautiful views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan.

This was our turn around point and returned the way we came. Very quiet hike, only a few other hikes.

According to my GPS watch, we hiked 8.8 miles, 1117 feet ascent, 1165 feet descent, 3 hours.

Lovely trees line the trail, beautiful and peaceful.
