Trip Report

Chelan Butte — Sunday, Mar. 10, 2019

Central Cascades > Entiat Mountains/Lake Chelan
Sunrise at Chelan Butte

I hiked this trail on both Saturday and Sunday. The hike on Saturday was mostly to get a feel of the trail before a sunrise hike on Sunday.

The parking lot sits opposite of the trail head. The boot tracks make it easy to find the snow covered trail. But if there are fresh snow, stand on the parking lot and look for the path between the ADA sign and the yellow house. Se photo below if that doesn't make sense.

The trail is marked with sign posts. I did not hike all the way to the top due to time. I started my Saturday hike at 3 pm. I would say I made it 2/3 of the way. There are boot tracks throughout the trail. This makes navigation manageable. the snow gets deeper and the trail gets narrower as you go further. I ended my Saturday hike with the intention to come back for the next day's sunrise.

The sunrise was stunning. The blanket of snow made the scene looked so clean and breathtaking. It was great to visit Chelan during the shoulder season.
