Hiked up the Boyscout trail and down the main trail - and I'm sure glad I did it in that order. The Boyscout trail has several sections of ice that were difficult to navigate without microspikes. My friend and I fell a few times.
The main trail is still covered in snow from 2400' upward. I would stick to that trail for ascent/descent, as we were able to navigate it with just poles and no microspikes. The sections of trail that aren't covered in snow are sucking pools of mud - beware.
Was hoping the east side of the Cascades had melted out enough to see the first wildflowers; guess I'll have to come back in a few weeks.
