Trip Report

Taylor River - Otter Falls — Sunday, Mar. 31, 2019

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
conditions for most of the hike

Middle fork road opened now. Parked at the Middle Fork campground and got on the trail at 8 am. There is a surprising amount of snow on the trial given its elevation. Most of the trail is covered in snow that is not difficult to traverse just adds more effort into each step. This was the most annoying and least fun thing about the trail. Hopefully this stuff melts soon.

Besides that this hike was great! Beautiful sunny day with the river and creeks flowing strongly. There are a few minor stream crossings, one hard one at the end. The turn off to Otter Falls is easy to miss. There are some cairns and tape but a map/navigation tool is what guided us correctly (AllTrails to be exact). Didn't see much of a trail after the turn off so we just went straight up the slope. Otter falls is not far up the slope.

Very nice hangout spot. Stayed here for about an hour. I scaled the rocks a bit which can be done on the dry rock with good traction shoes. Didn't go too high though. Two hours there, hour and 45 back. Only saw 2-3 other groups. Fantastic day on the trail!
