I take this hike twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Today was a great day for it with warm temperatures down low and cool in the wind up high. We saw maybe 20-30 other hikers today. It is always a friendly hike. Spring beauty and glacier lilies are coming out down low and in a few weeks there will be many other flowers showing up. There is no snow left on the trail to the lookout point. Be sure to go the extra 5 minutes to the right at the intersection at about 2.5 miles. If you don’t, you’ll miss most the views. From the lookout, you see Tumwater Canyon to the west, Leavenworth to the north, the meandering Icicle CreeK and its confluence with the Wenatchee River to the east and Wedge Mt to the south. This hike also delivers a sustained uphill workout on a fairly consistent grade.
