I hiked this trail the same weekend a year ago. Last year it rained on me pretty hard so I was happy to have clear skies today even if it was super windy. One thing I noticed that's changed from last year is that someone has improved the signage in the early stages of the trail.
Also in the early stages of the trail is a rather large rut - almost looks like the trail is cracking apart. It's easy enough to get around but just be careful of it.
This was a popular hike today - at 9:45am the parking lot was full except for the handicap accessible spots and one other spot. I met 13 dogs on the trail, each one was a good boy/girl.
There are a couple sections that are really steep so I would recommend poles.
I slightly extended my hike by wandering down to the paragliding take off area and found a spot out of the wind to get a snack and enjoy the view.
