After watching the weather go back and forth Saturday night we decided to test our luck and come out to Marmot Pass/Buckhorn Mountain. So thankful we did because the weather was amazing and so were the views. There were some trees down on the trail, but nothing impossible to cross. The snow was intermittent on the final mile to the pass, we all post holed a little here so be careful. The trail from Marmot Pass to Buckhorn Mountain was entirely free of snow. There are only a few patches left around Buckhorn so if you plan to camp up there make sure to fill up on water at Camp Mystery as there mostly likely won’t be much snow for melting.

jayjayjon on Marmot Pass, Buckhorn Mountain
We passed you on the trail on Memorial Day as you were hiking out. Your painting was beautiful -- my hiking buddy commented on it as we passed you. Didn't realize you'd been camping all the way up on Buckhorn. We got to Marmot Pass and hung out there for a while -- considered scrambling up Buckhorn but I had been battling a chest cold all week. We're now considering going back for an overnight on Buckhorn. Thanks for sharing your post.
