The parking lot and road were pretty filled with cars by the time we got to the trail (noon) but we still managed to find a spot.
Trail itself was in mostly excellent condition. There are some small streams to cross and some mud to get through closer to the lake, but nothing too much to handle with waterproof footwear.
There aren't a lot of great spots close to lake that are flat and easy to stop for a long break, but after a little searching we managed to find a small flat area to stop for lunch. Talapus lake was absolutely beautiful.
We hiked with our 4 1/2 year old and he hiked the full extent of the trail there and back unassisted.
We turned around at Talapus lake as our young travel companion was getting tired, so didn't make it to Olallie lake.
This was overall a relatively easy hike with an enjoyable payoff.
