The road may have been the sketchiest part of this hike! Our Subaru Impreza made it without issues, but we slowed the car to a crawl for the majority of the way to the trailhead. By the time we arrived, about 10am, there were still quite a few spots left, likely due to the heavy cloud cover. It misted with varying degrees of intensity throughout our hike, but honestly, it felt refreshing on the steady climb to the summit. After a few root-heavy hikes recently, this trail felt incredibly well-maintained. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't technical either. We passed only a couple people on the way up, but the summit wasn't too crowded until we headed back around 12:30.
Our hike here was also a reminder that an early start to beat the crowds isn't always the best strategy. We reached the summit at about noon, only to be shrouded in a cold, grey mist. Even though we didn't get sweeping views as a reward, the fog was delightful in it's own way. It's definitely a hike we'll keep on our list to return to someday, hopefully on a sunnier morning!
Overall, a nice workout and an enjoyable trail for two recent Seattle transplants. Can't wait to return for those views!
