Started from the Granite Mtn/Pratt Lake trailhead - already overflowing by 8:45 AM! After parking back along the frontage road, I started out along the canonical route turning left-right-left at the intersections. Everything is well-marked with signage.
I followed the trail a bit further than most others seem to - I turned off to the right only shortly *after* the trail starts down toward Island Lake, at the first major rock gully (which is also the first switchback, it seemed like a pretty obvious spot to me). I scrambled up the boulders staying on the right-hand/eastern edge, then had to bushwhack through 10-20 yards of forest before coming into the main talus field that makes up almost the entire southwest face of the mountain. From there it was a straight shot up, with great views down toward Island/Rainbow/Kulla Kulla Lakes the whole way until the false summit.
Took almost exactly 3 hours from exit 47 to the top, moving at a leisurely-but-steady pace. Trekking poles highly recommended for the descent, but no gear required.
