I'll be brief since there are lots of recent trip reports already. As people have said, the road to the trailhead is very rough and goes on for a while (maybe 20 minutes? Can't recall). The trail itself was great, and it was gorgeous out. Perfect view of Rainier. There's a tiny but of melting snow near the lake, but I didn't bother to put on any traction and I don't think most people would want to bother either (especially if they have poles). Trail was a bit wet and puddly from the snowmelt at times, so non-waterproof shoes might get wet.
Anyway, fantastic hike. Highly recommended!
