Boundary Way — Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Boundary Way by kcrawford16

We got a fairly early start but there were already several cars at the trailhead. The road is in decent condition for a FS road, no major potholes that can’t be driven through. The trail up to the junction was in great condition even if it was a bit muddy. We saw one group of three hunters here and were passed by a group of two motorcycle riders.
Once we split off onto the Boundary Way trail the views started popping in. They were amazing!
We made it to the crest and continued to follow the main trail. After about 0.5 miles the trail gets pretty bushy and disappears. It may have reappeared but we decided to turn around and head for Cowap Peak.
This was quite the short thigh burner, but worth it! We had a quick snack and had to get out before some weather moved in, but we still had great views all around.

Passed only one other group on the way back after reaching the junction with the Canyon Ridge Trail, but the parking lot was overflowing. Hunters and a Scouting expedition maybe? Not sure what was happening but there were a ton more cars in the parking lot and that we passed on the road coming in as we left around 2:15.
