If you are looking for amazing fall colors then Merritt Lake is an excellent option, but probably only for another week or so.
The road to the trailhead was as advertised, be sure to have a higher clearance vehicle or some adept rock dodging skills. A few items were not as advertised: the GPS coordinates on WTA do not lead you directly to the turnoff, so be sure to follow the written instructions and look for the sign that specifically says Merritt Lake Trailhead off of Highway 2; also, the trail is about 6 miles roundtrip total from the trailhead to the edge of the Merritt Lake.
The trail itself is a treat, with fall colors aplenty and some fantastic views as you ascend. On the day we went the trip up was temperate, but at the lake it got a bit chillier, especially in the shadows. The lake is another impressive sight, with just a bit of snow and the very start of ice around the edges it was a great payoff.
Go soon to enjoy the colors!

Was there any snow left on the ridge? Great pic of the lake, we were up there a few weeks ago and it was snowing. May the Force be with you
