Trip Report

Baker Lake - Maple Grove — Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

What a great day for a hike!

Theres a tree across the road just after the dam. I was able to drive my Jeep under it with no problem. It would be great if someone brought a chainsaw to remove the hazard. The road is in good shape. Just a few easy to avoid potholes.

We knew right away this would be a mushroom hike. All shapes and sizes. Orange, white, purple, black, and my favorite, the bird nest fungi.

The trail is in great shape. We made our way to Anderson Point for some lunch in the sun. The water level is quite low. I wish they could do something about the erosion at the campground. It’s quite impressive how the edge is crumbling into the lake. We only saw a handful of people. We heard many and saw a couple woodpeckers.
So beautiful. Would have been nice to stay the night.

Photos are wonderful... I would love ID info for top photo...or, colloquially, what is that?

Thank you. That first photo is taken at the campground at Anderson Point (my favorite place for lunch). The second pic is a birds nest fungi. Super cute. Smaller than a dime. I wish I could ID the rest of those mushrooms. I don’t know what they are but I like em.
Happy hiking! 🍄
