Enjoy a hike on a well maintained boardwalk visiting three lakes covered in part by ice. The end of the Upper Ashland Lake boardwalk is submerged in a bit of water so taking the recommended photo at the end of the lake is difficult unless you have high water boots to transverse 10-12 inches in water to step on the other side of the boardwalk. Don't let this discourage you from a lovely 5.4 mile loop hike in the forest. It is a beautiful hike in moss covered forest.
The road to the trail head has serious pot holes and is about a 20-30 minute drive to the start of the hike. Driving a Subaru is perfect for this gravel road.
