Another crunchy hike - but this time it was snow instead of gravel. (and makes a much more satisfying crunch.) The trail was mostly snow-covered; and being dirt, it lacked the usual footholds of a rocky or rooty trail. Looked like it would be one long slide on the way down, but it stayed sticky all day - at least from the Jacobson Preserve TH, which is on the shady side of the hill.
Was in Wenatchee for the feast this year, and decided to finally check out Saddle Rock - that big rock formation that looms over town and resembles a (you guessed it) saddle. The temp was still in the teens in the morning, but once out in the sun it was rather pleasant. Spent some time on the Rock, then continued up the hill to a higher viewpoint. From here, the trail continues up the ridge, intersecting with other trails that meander around the foothills. Not many footprints past here, and I decided to head back as I had not brought my pack. (always take your pack with you!) Hate to add it to my "Next Time" list - which seems to be getting bigger instead of smaller - but on the other hand, it gives me reason to go back...

That shadow picture is a classic. Looks like a fantastic day.

It was. Amazing how much warmer the winter sun feels over there than over here. (aka "The Dark Side")
