Hiked from the upper trailhead.
With the exception of some easy to cross snow patches the trail is snow free up to Camp Mystery. Past Camp Mystery it is more snow than not, the trail is mostly not there and requires navigation skills. From the footprints it looks like most people are going cross country in a choose your own adventure kind of way to get to the pass.
