Hiked Bridal Veil Falls with my Golden Retriever Ginger on a sunny Saturday morning. After the 1st half mile of the trail, I got waylaid by a spur trail containing a number of downed trees and branches, a half dozen creek crossings, and steep embankments to go up and down. Fortunately, I eventually found the main trail, and did not pass through this section on my way back! The 1/2 mile spur to the falls is incredibly rocky…I found myself moving at a snails pace, trying not to twist an ankle. Thankfully, it is over soon. At 8:00 in the morning, the falls were not terribly over-crowded, which was nice. On the way back, I was overwhelmed with people heading back and heading up. Expect to spend a lot of time waiting for people to pass, especially on the “stair” sections near the falls. My dog revelled in all the human attention, and loved every minute of the hike back! All in all, everybody practiced good trail etiquette, being friendly and saying “hi”, taking turns passing, no loud music and no trash. When I got back to the parking lot at 10:00, there was a line of 8 people waiting to use the loo! The lot was full, and cars were parked both directions along the road for at least a quarter of a mile. All in all, a good way to spend a Saturday morning.
