The road up to the parking area is rough! Highly suggest a high clearance vehicle. We did see several sedan type cars who made it, but my subaru forester bottomed out once.
The trail itself is a little rough but manageable for this 30-something mom who stares at a computer most days. Wear good footwear! If bringing kids, be prepared to help them navigate very big steps/rocks.
We got to the trail at 9am and snagged the last parking spot in the parking area. When we left at 2pm, the lot was completely full, the road was lined with cars, and even the highway down below had people parking there.
Suggested to bring sandals for dipping your toes (or whole body) in the water at the top, lots of water, and bug spray.
