With such a beautiful day out, I decided to do a nice run hike up to snow and gem lakes this past Sunday. I arrived around 9 and the trail was extremely crowded, which is pretty typical for snow lake, though luckily there's never a shortage of places to park here.
The trail was completely snow and obstacle free all the way to snow lake. Past snow lake, the crowds thinned out and there were only a couple easy to pass snow fields on the way to gem lake. I brought my microspikes, but left them in my backpack for the entire hike. Gem lake still had a bit of snow on it, but was mostly melted.
There was also a sign at the base of the trail indicating the trail would be closed for maintenance/construction starting July 29th.
