The perfect kid-friendly hike! My son (8yo) and I loved this hike. We arrived about 9am on a Friday and parked along the road due to campground paving. *note: there is LONG wait construction along the North Cascade Hwy so plan to add more drive time. Not sure how long it'll be going for though.
The trail itself is in great condition, wide paths and gentle switchbacks.The views of the creek and surrounding mountains are gorgeous and the payoff at the top is breathtaking.
The views of Diablo never get old and it was pretty quiet, especially for a Friday morning.
Overall, we loved this hike! Afterward we spent some time at the lake then decided to venture down to the Diablo damn, which was an adventure just to drive across.
The beauty of the North Cascades are magical!
