We were looking for a less-traveled route to spend a night at Heart Lake, and this one did not disappoint. Road to trailhead is accessible to sedans, no problem. Parking at the trail head itself is limited to a small number of cars, but parking is available 400' down the road on a nice wide bend.
The trail is in good condition, a little over grown in places and a few trees down, but nothing too troublesome. It meanders through an absolutely gorgeous forest, lots of witches hair hanging from the branches makes the forest feel soft and fuzzy. There was one spot in the first 3rd of the trail where a tree has recently fallen and taken the trail with it, and this area was a little tricky with full packs on. Not that we minded, as it gave us a chance to stop the relentless climb up the mountain.
Once at the top of Angry Ridge, the views of three mountains more than made up for the aggressive grade to get there. Im guessing this trail isn't traveled much because of its' steepness and because the social media selfie views don't emerge until the final 1/4 mile of the hike. Which is a pity for the crowds, but great for us - we passed exactly one other person on the way up, and one the next day as we descended back to the car.
We'd like to thank the WTA for all they do in maintaining the wilderness trails, especially to the people who worked on the restoration project a couple of years to keep this one from being totally reclaimed by the wilderness. The forest was absolutely beautiful, and we appreciate the work of the WTA.

John Morrow on Angry Mountain
I am beginning to believe that the "crowds" don't really care that there are crowds.
