This hike was steeper than I expected! Allow yourself a bit of extra time to get up here as the elevation climbs quickly! Lots of fall colors starting to come through, all the berries are drying up. We did this hike as an afternoon hike and got back down just in time for sunset. When we got to the trailhead around 3 or 3:30pm (on a Saturday) there was plenty of parking available at the small parking area. As many others have noted, the parking lot only holds about 10 cars.
Pay attention to the signs on the trail as the turn-off on the right hand side to the viewpoint is fairly narrow and I could see how it could be missed. There is a sign directly across from it pointing it out though, so if you read the signs you won't miss it!
